The Evaluation

Your initial evaluation will involve a 45 minute appointment with one of our physical therapists to discuss your current injury, your past medical history, and your goals for physical therapy. Time is spent assessing functional movements, range of motion, strength, and a full systems review. Our goal is for you to feel clarity after your assessment in terms of what your rehabilitation will look like and how we will achieve your goals.

The Process

Each physical therapy appointment 1-on-1 and is individualized to achieve your goals. Based on your goals and areas of impairments found in your initial evaluation, we will work together to develop a rehab plan that is specific to your goals. Typically, this involves a blend of hands-on manual therapy and progressive exercise.

Westbrook, Maine

Westbrook, Maine is a charming town that blends a small-town feel with proximity to urban conveniences. Home to about 20,000 people, it offers a welcoming and tight-knit community atmosphere. While smaller than nearby Portland, Westbrook has its own growing population, with a mix of long-established families and newcomers, including a diverse immigrant community that enriches the town's cultural fabric.

The town experiences the full range of New England seasons. Summers are warm, typically in the 70s, perfect for outdoor activities like hiking along the riverfront trails or enjoying local parks. Winters bring snow, making it a great spot for winter sports like snowshoeing and ice skating. Fall is especially beautiful, with vibrant foliage creating postcard-worthy scenery throughout the town.

Sports are an important part of Westbrook’s community life, with high school teams playing a central role. Westbrook High School is at the heart of local athletics, with active programs in soccer, basketball, and hockey that bring the town together for games and events. Westbrook is also just a short drive from Portland, giving residents easy access to professional teams like the Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox’s AA affiliate), the Maine Celtics (Boston Celtics’ G-League team), and the Maine Mariners hockey team.

Westbrook has deep roots as a historic mill town, once known for its thriving paper and textile industries that helped shape the local economy. Its industrial heritage earned it the nickname "Paper City," a nod to the paper mills that lined the Presumpscot River and employed many of the town’s residents for generations. While the mills have quieted, Westbrook’s rich history still echoes through its downtown, with old mill buildings now repurposed into modern spaces for businesses, artists, and residents.

For pastimes, Westbrook residents enjoy the outdoors, taking advantage of the town's parks, trails, and the scenic Presumpscot River for kayaking or fishing in the warmer months. In winter, locals embrace the cold with snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. While Westbrook may not have the bustling nightlife of nearby Portland, it boasts a growing food scene with local restaurants, breweries, and family-friendly spots. Its mix of natural beauty, community spirit, and easy access to Portland's urban offerings makes Westbrook a delightful place to live.
