The Evaluation

Your initial evaluation will involve a 45 minute appointment with one of our physical therapists to discuss your current injury, your past medical history, and your goals for physical therapy. Time is spent assessing functional movements, range of motion, strength, and a full systems review. Our goal is for you to feel clarity after your assessment in terms of what your rehabilitation will look like and how we will achieve your goals.

The Process

Each physical therapy appointment 1-on-1 and is individualized to achieve your goals. Based on your goals and areas of impairments found in your initial evaluation, we will work together to develop a rehab plan that is specific to your goals. Typically, this involves a blend of hands-on manual therapy and progressive exercise.

Portland, Maine

Portland, Maine is a coastal gem that balances small-town charm with urban vibrancy. Home to around 68,000 people, the city has a diverse and growing population. In addition to its longstanding New England roots, Portland has become a hub for immigrants from countries like Somalia, Sudan, and Central America, giving the city a rich cultural mix. With a strong LGBTQ+ community, it’s known for being welcoming, progressive, and inclusive, attracting a range of young professionals, families, and creatives.

The climate offers four distinct seasons, with mild summers that typically hover in the 70s, perfect for hitting the beach, sailing, or hiking along the many coastal trails. Winters are snowy and cold, which makes it ideal for winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, and ice hockey. Fall, however, steals the show with stunning foliage and crisp, cool weather that’s perfect for outdoor exploration.

Sports play a big role in the community, with locals rallying behind hockey, soccer, and basketball. Portland High School and Deering High School are central to the city’s sports scene, with active athletic programs that bring together students and the wider community for games and events. Portland is also home to several sports teams, including the Red Sox's AA affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs; the Maine Celtics, the Boston Celtics' G-League team; the Maine Mariners hockey team; and the newly formed soccer team, the Portland Hearts of Pine.

In terms of pastimes, Portland is all about the outdoors and enjoying the natural beauty of Maine. You’ll find locals kayaking, hiking, or biking during the warmer months, while winter brings out snowshoeing and ice skating enthusiasts. The food scene here is top-notch, with an emphasis on fresh, local seafood—lobster rolls, anyone? The Old Port is a popular spot for both locals and visitors, known for its cobblestone streets lined with boutique shops, craft breweries, and award-winning restaurants. With its mix of culture, nature, and community spirit, Portland offers a little something for everyone.
